We're pulling the kids from school and going to Dallas.

So apparently my move to Rochester NY (from the DC area) has one benefit.... School is off that day too (they added on a day to Spring break).

I live in the path of totality so that's cool.

Buffalo! Hoping for good weather, which is less certain than other locations, but knocking out a trip to Niagara at the same time. Plus, easy direct flight from DCA (though we booked a few months ago). We also saw it in 2017 and it was spectacular

My parents live in San Antonio. Heading to hill country to see it.

You really need it to be sunny. If it’s cloudy, it will just get weirdly dark.

We happened to be nearby in 2017 (or I forget which year) and totality was completely amazing but only because the clouds cooperated. I definitely want to go but I think we’ll just do a long drive if the forecast is favorable.

We're going to Texas. It's happening on my dad's 70th birthday and brothers 40th birthday - so we're having a big family birthday/eclipse party!

Not necessarily bad, just cloudy. The portion of the viewing area bordering the great lakes is notoriously cloudy. Speaking from experience but I'm sure there are some historical stats out there.

I originally booked Cleveland but my Dad, from Cleveland discouraged me saying that Cleveland is usually very overcast in April so odd are that you'd see nothing

Because we have lived through previous Aprils?

My parents are in the path (western NY) and I’d like to take DC to see it but it would mean missing a couple days of school, so we’ll probably pass. Maybe if the forecast loooks good in the days leading up to it I’ll change my mind. Weather is such a crapshoot there that time of year. We could stay with them so don’t have to worry about hotels.
