What am I going to have in common with her? To each his own but I strongly prefer prefer someone around my age. Having been married the last thing I want is be involved with someone new to the institution and be so exited and end up disappointed. The sweet spot for me would be a divorced woman with kids older than 40.
I'm 46 with kids. Divorced 4 years. I usually date younger men (27-37) because I can, because I won't remarry or blend families and I don't want more kids.
I did date a man the same age as me...he lied about being divorced. I thought I was doing the right thing dating close to my age, but now I don't think I ever will again.
Are most of the younger guys you date as mature as you? Or immature?
Not immature at all. I am not sure why you think maturity has to do with age. My ex husband is 50 and my kids call him an "adult toddler." I was mature in my early 20s...same as now. It is the same for men. Age does not always correlate with maturity at all. It's the person.
Interestingly, the younger men complain that women their own age are immature, obsessed with social media and image, flaky, obsessed with money and apperance, etc. That is why they date older (and no pressure to hurry up and getting married and have kids). Younger men often feel that younger women want any man just to marry, which is immature.

My last boyfriend is six years younger than me and we met in real life. He is way more mature than most 40 yo single guys I've met.
Men say the same exact thing about younger women lol. It’s a common cliche that people seeking younger people use.
Are 30 yo men more mature than 40 yo men? Not necessarily. Are 30 yo SINGLE men more mature than 40 yo SINGLE men? In my experience YES. B/c in DMV where most well educated people get married around 30, there are still plenty of mature and family-oriented single guys around 30. Single, never-married guys around 40, on the other hand, tend to be immature, or players, or not financially established, or super picky, or a combination of the above. Occasionally there are good divorced men around 40 but it's not very common in this area.
I was once a 30 years old single guy. And I hate it to break it to you but some of the attributes you applied to 40 years single men applied to me back then.
There is nothing magical about these invoke young men you are taking about. Yes they may last longer in bed and have higher libido but they are still men with the same faults that men regardless of age have.
PP here. You seem to lack reading comprehension skills. What I was saying was, of course there are mature and immature men in all age group, but at the age of 30, many mature men are still single and looking to settle down. However, at the age of 40, most mature men have already settled down and not yet divorced (there are exceptions but not a lot), so % of immature men in the pool of single 40 yo men is much higher than the % of immature men in the pool of single 30 yo men. Understand?

What's the age difference between your mailman and your neighbor's uncle? It's just as relevant.
