If you are using regenerative braking and the correct driving mode, your car battery will die before you ever need new brakes/pads on a tesla.

The cargo area is more spacious than in appears because there are a few extra compartments where the engine would have been. And it has an excellent safety profile. I plan to not buy gas for the next 20 years with these cars.
Teslas have brakes! Those are expensive. We're on our 3rd Tesla.

I have a 6-year-old Model 3 and 8-year-old Model X. Both have 85-95% of their original battery range.
I’ve been beyond satisfied with one exception — repairs after minor accidents. In the three cases where I needed repairs from people running into me, it took 3-4 weeks for body shop to obtain the required parts. So I had to drive around with dents in my car (didn’t affect the ability to drive) for weeks.
I probably would not buy a Tesla if I still lived in Georgetown and relied primarily or exclusively on street parking, especially on busy streets, given my experience with minor body repairs, and my desire to have my car to look pristine or close to it.
So far, my total expenditures on all maintenance, including replacement tires, tire rotations, changing air filters, brake fluid tests, and wheel alignments, has been less than $3000 over 8 years for BOTH cars combined. That’s less than half what I paid to maintain a single BMW 5 series over a similar span.

My problem is the premium price of a Tesla. Any gas savings is lost on that big premium you pay. Also you have to pay an electrician $800-$1500 to install the correct outlet in your garage. Less Maintenance but when you need maintenance it’s more expensive. Not sure on insurance as posters here seem split. As more people drive EVs will there be lines at superchargers. And with Musk slashing prices periodically, I would hate to buy one only to have Tesla slash the price by $5000-7500 the following week.

Long time Tesla owner here...10+ years. Loved the car, but won't do it again. Too many battery issues as the car aged. This will happen to all of you too. Will take longer to charge and your real world mileage will drop. I also got tired of Tesla Customer service. The older cars have a number of issues (for instance search leaking Model S dashboard in your favorite search engine) that Telsa chose to ignore.
Don't get me wrong, i loved the car. Was a great time for a handful of years. But mark my words, once BMW, Audi, Mercedes finally really figure it out (let alone Honda, Toyota etc) I just see Tesla losing significant market share. Better customer service, better car quality, better interiors.

I only drive BMWs and they’ve always been fabulous and lasted 10 years or more. Why would you buy a car that you need to dispose of after only 3 years? That’s a red flag.
+1 I too wondered about getting rid of a Tesla after 3 years
We’re trading in the one that in 6 years old. Range has improved by over 100 miles since we got that one.

I definitely think people judge new Tesla drivers because Elon is so scary at this point.
Even before he was a known jerk, I didn't want one because there are so many issues.
One day at school, a mom couldn't get into her Tesla because her phone died. She had to call her husband to bring her a battery pack for her phone so she could start her car. That's just ridiculous to me.
Well that mom is idiotic. Teslas also come with 2 keys and in fact the husband could have opened and started the car remotely from his app if she didn’t have a key on her
