My kid hates social media. He wants nothing posted about him on social media ever. I post a group picture of the family with him in it once in awhile, but I keep it to a minimum. More information than that and I would hear about it.

It’s a weird overshare, but that’s what people do on Facebook/social media. Cringe and move on and tell your kid to be glad you’re not the over-sharer.

I wouldn't do it, but I'd put it in the category of it doesn't affect me whatsoever, so good for them if that's their choice and her kid is OK with it.

Yikes! To each their own, but to me that seems attention-seeking and exhibitionist to me.

I wouldn’t “uncriend” her or be judgy IRL, but I’d probably just hide her from my FB feed so I no longer see the posts that make me cringe.

We’re all so different when it comes to social media and putting our stuff out there, more generally. So I think it’s fine (healthy!) to recognize when people’s posts aren’t a fit with your tastes/preferences. The “hide” function is a gift - much better than drama or rumination.

For a first gen family, this is completely ok in my book!

Same if the kid openly struggled a lot growing up, either academically or socially/emotionally.

In those cases, I truly understand the extra enthusiasm and am cheering the kids on myself. So I don’t mind seeing it on FB.

But for everyone else … ugh. Super cringy!! Save it for the grandparents and the handful of others who genuinely and lovingly swoon at our kids’ every step forward in life. (For us that includes DCs’ favorite preschool teacher, who’s now a close family friend. But not usually their aunt/uncle - they’re awesome and love our kids, but we recognize they don’t love being bombarded by Larlo/Larla’s every move. Know your audience!)

It's tone deaf. No one really cares, its desperate actions for attention and inconsiderate to those with kids who are struggling with the college process. This woman is clueless.
