Africans are people who immigrated from Africa and their children and grandchildren who retain cultural ties to Africa.
African Americans are descendants of people who were brought as slaves from Africa and who had their cultural ties intentionally destroyed, so they part of a uniquely American culture.
There are large populations of both groups in PG, and Montgomery County. Seton and AHC are the two all girls schools with the largest African populations.
