FTR: it’s the same fabric/material. Or if it’s another material, it’s usually not machine washable and doesn’t hold up well.

Strong disagree. The cheap ones look cheap.

?

If a dress retails for $180+ at Nordstrom but you can get the exact same dress (same brand/same print) at TJ Max or Nordstrom Rack for $40, what’s the difference?

There is no difference. It’s the same flipping dress.

Or do you think the $300 or $400 dress is better quality? Disagree. They tend to fall apart, actually.

No, they don’t. I’ve owned many of the expensive ones. Why would they “fall apart”? The ones linked at the rack are made for the rack, never sold at the actual Nordstrom store for full price. That’s not how most of the merchandise at the budget stores is acquired. It’s made for those places: they get limited inventory from the actual main store. But it’s not this stuff. This stuff is basically Francesca’s. Yes, lines like ulla Johnson and oliphant are more expensive but often you get what you pay for.

NP and I wish I'd look good in those dresses - they are beautiful. I'd look like a kooky aunt (which, granted, I am), not a wispy wealthy watercolorist.

Why? I’m curvy and I look great in these dresses. You can just say they aren’t your style.

I'm not curvy. Someone curvy would look fantastic in them. They ARE my style - I love them - but they'd drown me. I'm five feet tall and muscular - just trust me, these are not dresses for someone with my shape. They are made for someone who has more of a body to put them on.

You don't have to be so defensive, PP.

I saw the Quince knockoff one posted upthread - FYI that the fabric feels pretty cheap on that one and it doesn't lay as well. I've bought it a couple of times in different colors and returned it because it's just kind of disappointing as compared to the Anthro one. (Although that Navy color is new and pretty...)

Just a heads up - dresses from lots of these brands are on posh mark, in case these prices are a bit steep for anyone.

I own a ton of MISA also. It’s very wearable, and easy to pack. I love this dress

Not OP, but oooooh, that MISA is a nice dress. Love it.
