I gained 50 lbs with both pregnancies, had c sections, lost all the weight and, thankfully, have no stretch marks, "shelf" or pannus.

Pp. You’re lucky!! Also gained 50 lbs, but am only 5’3 and short-waisted so my belly was huge, and I guess my skin is less elastic. My stomach is the bane of my body issues.

Same story. Not twins but multiple pregnancies and the fast increase/decrease in size has left me with extra skin despite my best efforts.

+1, small frame and left with a terrible hanging saggy stomach after pregnancies. I look fine in clothes but wrecked without. Afraid to go under or I’d have surgery.

Also as someone who had a c section I really hope most people don’t don’t around thinking that all women who had c sections have an f ed up mid section.

This. If you are a woman who has gone through a pregnancy, with the relatively fast weight loss and gain, and are looking at <50 pounds, you have your answer. I certainly do, but I’ve had 2 C-section, which definitely make it more likely. (Side point— oddly, no one has started a thread on whether should be allowed to terminate a pregnancy because they will need a c-section and will likely end up with an apron belly. Y’all are so busy protecting me from an elective drug. But just shrug at women being forced to carry pregnancies that will cause this condition. Where the concern trolling for pregnancy OP?)

If you don’t want the side effects, maybe this drug isn’t for you.

Also, it’s is a function of your collagen, so ask your mother (or try to remember) if she had flawless skin, or had stretch marks and sags.

I don’t think collagen production has that much to do with genetics, that if you mother had good skin you can rely on yours being good too.

Diet, avoidance of alcohol and smoking, stress management, sleep etc. will have a lot more to do with it. If you beat up your skin it won’t be able to serve you well no matter how lovely your mother’s skin was.

It’s hard for me to picture how you could stretch out your skin that badly with the weight you are talking about distributed over your whole body. But I think it’s related to genetics because my mom also had one (she had surgery to have it removed and I’ve definitely thought about doing the same…)

I am 5’2 and had a 10 pound baby born via c section. I do not have any type of apron belly. I think it really varies per person.

I think it also somewhat depends on genetics. My mom was underweight but all definitions, but still had a small belly. She exercised regularly and ate well, but could never get rid of the belly.

Everyone is different. No way of knowing in advance.
