Look at the data folks. Some schools take a lot of their entering class in ED. Some don't. Every school lists this info in its common data set. Go back a few years and you'll see that there's some consistency, even if the overall odds are much tougher today than they were pre-pandemic.
Is the data this year different?
More apps in ED yet smaller % of class filled? If so, that is in fact noteworthy.
