Bottom line, even at the top high schools, if you are a top top player you make varsity, because of how you play and your reputation; if you are a middling ECNL player or just "good" and you cant make your varsity team; imho, it is a wake up call.

Multiple rec league only players made JV at our dc's large FCPS high school and multiple travel players were cut from JV. No idea about Varsity.

It is a crapshoot with so many kids--it's unreasonable to expect the coaching staff to really be able to evaluate 100+ kids at a few days of tryouts, and keep in mind a lot of the tryouts are just watching small-sided scrimmages that have nothing to do with the ability to be impactful 11v11 on a full field whether it is stamina, positioning, long-range vision and technical ability etc. Good luck to your DD.
5 days of try-outs?
Good coach would pick up good plays the first sight.
5 times is only to accommodate the good players doing other sports.
Its hard to evaluate 150 kids at the same time.
Friday is the final day for our school. One round of cuts done. Very stressful.
We have over 100 boys trying out at our school, we had cuts Wednesday and Thursday, today is our final day as well.
My son is a Sophomore and got cut last year on Friday. Ugh! Hoping he has better luck this year. We're stressing...
Playing Club is fine, but it's such a Honor to play in High School in front of your peers. I would love for him to experience that....
