Subject: Curtains from Target v. Pottery Barn
For those who use back tab curtains, do you have any trouble sliding them over the “seams” in the curtain rod?

+1, we have some floor to ceiling windows and none of target's in-house brand come in long enough lengths. Though I'm leaning toward Amazon versus PB or similar because we have a ton of windows to cover and it's going to cost a ton no matter what. I might just buy fabric and have them made if I can find someone able to line with room darkening fabric.

It depends on what you want them for - decorative, buy Target. If you want light blocking heavy curtains, buy PB. We have beautiful fake linen curtains we bought off Amazon. We only use them to add some texture and frame the window. I would not have spent thousands for that purpose.

My mom taught me when I was a kid that the main difference between more expensive stores and brands and lower end ones is that the odds of finding good quality are higher at the higher end stores/brands.
You can find low quality stuff at PB and high quality stuff at Target. If you are super cost conscious, it is worth the effort to sort through options at Target. Things you might want to look at include:
- Fabric quality (thickness, materials)
- Fullness (how wide are the curtains)
- Construction (what kind of stitching etc)
- Hardware quality
It can be helpful to read blogs and fora etc about what makes for good curtain quality. Not everything is worth this kind of research, but since you look at window treatments everyday and don't replace them often...I think it is for this.
