Agreed. I'm tired of characters being naked just because cable networks can do that.

Oh please, that scene did not develop character in the slightest. How someone acts in bed only tells me how he or she acts in bed. It does not show me anything about the person’s character. A person can be dominant in bed and submissive in daily interactions and vice versa. This scene was completely gratuitous and the opposite of erotic. Those are two people I’d rather not see having sex (or rather simulating sex). I’m not alone in my opinion. HBO shows can sometimes really go over the top with sex scenes just for the heck of it. Stick to telling the story and leave something to the imagination especially with unattractive actors. How is this baffling?

Agreed. I didn’t understand the point of why that scene was included.

Are people talking about the scene when the wife (baby mama?) reaches into the young cop's pants? If so, I definitely saw a point there -- they're interrupted by a call from "the chief" (Jodie Foster's character) and he immediately takes it. He's enjoying an intimate moment but is willing to kill it without even really thinking about it because she called.

It’s the supernatural overtones that caught me off guard. It’s not that they are bad, but I wasn’t expecting that from True Detective. What I liked about the show was that it didn’t go supernatural or surrealistic. It was very much grounded in reality, even when the detective had dementia. I loved Nic Pizzolato and his vision. seeing his shoe felt like talking to a soulmate.

I didn’t know beforehand that he wasn’t working on this season. I noticed immediately that it didn’t feel like him and was very disappointed, but not surprised to see there was a different show runner. She’s also good, very but it wasn’t what I wanted from True Detective. I wish they’d just given the show a different name, kinda like Mare of Eastown. I’ll still be watching, but I was sad to get hyped up for Nic and end up with something completely different.
