I'm 58, get my roots touched up every 4 weeks, my colorist uses demi-permanent color on my hair as supposedly I'm not gray enough yet to use permanent. That's the most I know about my grays!

If you have to dye roots every 4 weeks you are probably over 20 percent gray but under 50 percent

50 and probably at least 90% but not sure because I’ve been coloring since my early 30s.
I go back and forth with stopping coloring but don’t want to deal with the transition phase. Will probably wait 5 years until my youngest is out of high school, unless I’m job searching.

I’m 51 and only have a few silver strands. If you are over 40, what your age and how gray are you?

55, and I found a gray hair the other day. One. Naturally brown, have never used any hair coloring products

This hasn't even been predictable across my siblings, it's all over the place

48, no grey, but maybe 2-3% white around my temples.

57 and maybe 5-10%? The most gray is around my temples.

51, just noticed 1 or 2 small greys at my temple. My mother’s side of the family goes grey very late.

47 and my hairstylist says I'm 5-10% gray and mostly in the lower layers so you can only see a handful of gray hairs when I wear it down. She says "don't even think about coloring until you hit 20%".

I’m mid 30s and know I have grey, but I get highlights/balayage so it sort of blends in. I noticed a big ‘streak’ recently and had to show my husband 😂 my ‘natural highlights’ are getting pretty pronounced! I never do any root coloring, but might have to start

The percentage is estimated.

My husband, his mom, and her dad never went gray.

I’m 57 and only have a few scattered strands. Have never colored my hair and hope to avoid it. People in my family gray very slowly. I think I’ll skip color altogether if I’m 65-70 by the time I look “salt and pepper.”
