The average IB class in 11th & 12th (when the full-fledged IB program starts, rather than pre-IB) is about 25 students. My understanding is that they keep it small due to resources and because it is an intense program not designed for everyone, that as a result they all pass; the Principal said something during the summer institute about how the IB Math scores at Banneker were some of the highest in the US. I can't cite this fact b/c I don't know where the data comes from: just telling you what was circulated.
They do have a few kids drop out from the IB track. I think two switched to AP this year. It is an intense program that requires an additional class before and after school.
