The campus is divided between social kids and kids who study 24/7. Twenty five percent of undergrads are in a fraternity or sorority. In addition, there are national championship level D3 and D1 athletes. So, yes, there are parties and sporting events, lots of them. But also some kids who live in the library. Just like any other T20 school.

11:11 again, perhaps this is best for society overall. Perhaps not. Mobility is important and there are discrepancies in the preparation of students from different socio-economic groups, so there is no way around folding in a few less prepared.

As to the statistics about race, I am sure that many students identified as belonging to groups that they may not appear to. When a system incentivizes particular aspects, don't be surprised when people optimize for those things. Human behavior is predictable!

We have not as a society decided that this is what we want. The leftist administrations of universities have decided they want to force-feed everyone their social justice agenda. Most people in this country are against race-based admissions, even groups that supposedly benefit, and Supreme Court has ruled that it is illegal.

My old neighbor was a JHU prof. He was unhappy that the academic ability of *some* admitted students declined in recent years. He was accustomed to having exclusively high achieving students but now encountered some who needed remedial work. As a society we have decided that this is what we want.

Johns Hopkins is like the polar opposite experience vs something like Southern Methodist University….

Not only do you not have to submit proof, there is no legal definition of what constitutes membership in any specific group. Anyone can check any box, and the deception was out of hand. Let's hope the SC has ended the farce of judging people's qualifications according to their ethnicity.
