Do you ever touch your coworkers? If so, where? Arm/back/etc.? Same gender/opposite gender?

My female coworkers and I sometimes hug, such as last year when I put my dog down and a coworker hugged me. My male coworkers and I never touch each other.

Depends. People I have known a long time and have a bond with, yes. I am also a hugger, so I'm totally fine with hugging in general.

I had a boss that was sort of "handsy" once, but you were always wondering if he was just super polite - gentlemanly hand on the back at times, hand offered when getting out of a car, etc. or what. It didn't bother me.

I have seen threads like this before and it makes me feel like maybe dc and New York are super different.
Yes we all hug quite frequently - my boss hugs me when he sees me. I have worked at more than 10 companies and this has always been true.

I'm male, won't touch a woman at work other than a high-five.

Regularly interactions or people I regular see - never more than a handshake

Do you shake hands still? Do you do it less than before covid started?

Yes, I shake hands as much as I did pre covid.

Pls keep your dirty hands to yourself. My smiles at work are purely professional, they don’t mean you can advance on me.

None. I think hugs are used as manipulation in a workplace.
I only hug family members and longtime friends.

I hate it. Please don't touch me ever! Unless I'm unconscious and need CPR.

Yes, people are pretty huggy across genders. The company is remote, so a lot of us don’t see each other in person often. During our offsites a few times a year people hug as a greeting and to say goodbye.

I am a natural hugger but have scaled back a lot due to the discomfort it brings many others. Every now and again, if I haven't seen someone in a while, I hug them.

I’m in an office with about 70 people and known to be the “mom.” I have both given hugs and received hugs others have initiated. It’s totally situational and person-dependent.

Yes, I "deeply" touched two and now divorced.

Not typically but when I was out for an extended period, a couple co-workers hugged me upon my return. It was spontaneous.

Never and I don't want to be touched.

I'm ok with hugs, and throughout my career had coworkers with whom I hugged on special occasions/more informal situations.
Professional interactions/introductions were handshakes only.
I recently started the new job, people here hug all the time. It felt very weird to hug with CFO during introduction, tbh.

All the time. The busier it is, the more we collide. Nobody cares or thinks about it.
