Both kids: England, France, Holland, Italy, Switzerland, Croatia, Ireland, Spain. We spent a year in the UK and traveled during school breaks, plus a few stand alone trips.

Older kid: Canada (university visits) and Mexico (gap year).

Big 3, one Ivy and one Ivy-plus parent.

Canada
France
Ireland
Turkey
Ecuador/Galapagos trip

What else? Not in dmv so Big 3 doesn’t apply. Private school rated #1 in state on niche. One Ivy parent. Don’t live in a townhome. No aging in-law slights/disasters to report at this time.

Kid #1 - Canada (two family trips), Japan (with Girl Scouts)
Kid #2 - Canada (see above), Germany (school trip)

For reasons I will never understand, their public HS yearbook features a multi-page spread on individual students' expensive international vacations every year as if it were some big achievement on the kid's part.

We have friends in many of these places, so we get a sense of the local culture/life. Others were long distance hiking trips, which are interesting in their own way. The folks you meet on the trail are similar regardless of the country.....

No Australia? Pffft.

Stupid school holidays get in the way!!
