Are you asking if you should be offended by things that do not offend you? The answer is no. You should not be offended by things that don't offend you.

Are you asking if you should not be offended by things that offend you? Probably. Being less offended is an aspect of high self-esteem and confidence. But everyone has their insecurities so it's OK to ask people to avoid giving needless offense.

Why were you in a souvenir store? Buying things in a foreign country is literally cultural appropriation. He was awkwardly trying to defuse your offensive photo, by highlighting the only non culturally appropriative part of the image.
