My daughter is in MS at SAES and they take their phones from them in the morning and they dont get them back til after school is dismissed

At Norwood phones must remain in your locker the whole day. Need teacher permission to use them during carpool at the end of the day. Every classroom in the school has a phone as do adults in addition to radios/walky talkies so in an emergency there is communication.

What are the policies at STA/NCS?

SAES middle school kids check their phones in with advisor in the morning and get them back at the end of the day. Upper school can use them in the Student Center but not in the main academic building. The kids are pretty respectful of the rules I think! (At least, from what I hear as a parent!)

That’s why there are trained adults and established emergency operations procedures.

6th and 7th trade in their cell phone for their iPad in the morning and then back again after school. Not sure about 8th grade. Kids *can* access their phones if absolutely needed. Teachers and other staff always have their phones on them.

I’m assuming you’re referring to active shooter situations. I’m 100% sure, teachers cellphone use, or any emergency protocol, are not affected by cellphone policies directed at kids.
