I am this poster. OP, read your update. He sounds like a genuinely nice person. I think sometimes we forget that our coworkers are people too. I for one, am just used to working in a cold, soulless corporate environment for so long. Sounds like you have a nice place to work.

This. He only asked to be polite. I am unsure why some on this thread are going all #metoo about it. He was being polite; you politely decline and take your mental health days as needed. Too easy.

It's fine to take a mental health day as a sick day if you are run down. The above is great - text back thank you but you are all set and they should have a good weekend and you'll see them Monday. You don't need to be on death's door to take a sick day.

There are genuinely decent people out there. I’m one of them, and I work for several.

It’s telling in some of the responses here about “the boss is out of line” or “sounds like he’s into you” that there are a LOT of really, really broken and defective people here on this thread.
