I see similarities to DCUM, but a lot that was dissimilar.
It seemed to me that a large focus of the book was about some of the family members becoming vaguely aware that they are snobs because of all their money, and feeling guilty about it. To me, DCUM has a lot of strivers who want to achieve that super-duper upper crust status and not so much that they have always had gobs and gobs of money.
I liked the book.

Started this today and am really enjoying it so far. Thank you!
I’m glad you are liking it so far!

I also read When We Were Bright and Beautiful and really liked it until the turn it took at the end and then I hated it, so just a heads up if that comes up in your searches because I thought it was going to be like Pineapple Street.
Agree completely about When We Were Bright and Beautiful. And I've read several books this year that include this same X (not going to spoil it) that it felt gimmicky and cheap to me, like it's a hot thing in publishing.
SPOILER
Can someone reveal X ?
I’d love to know if this book/X, is a hard pass for me?
It's an uncomfortable book, but I couldn't put it down. It's a dirty, vile, hate read.
Trigger warnings for - rape, not really a spoiler, as a rape trial is the main theme of the book (aka Brock Turner)
Spoiler ahead (though many could see this coming, or guessed it early on) ---
sexual grooming/molestation/rape of a child
Anonymous wrote:Not sure what this genre is but rich people as the main characters with complicated relationships, motherhood/parenting, etc. I have enjoyed Elin Hildebrand in the past but Fleishman/Pineapple St. feels like a different set of wealthy characters. I am not opposed to more challenging reads too but going through a bit of a tough time, so maybe all I am looking for is more DCUM-type books.
