There’s probably tens of thousands of earthquakes that magnitude (low 2’s) every year all around the planet. Meh.

Thank you for the link. So the epicenter was Lakewood Country Club! I live right around the corner. I slept through it.

Didn't feel it or hear it in Potomac. All three of us slept right through it.

Huh? This isn't a mystery. There's known research that once there is a big earthquake somewhere, it will be followed by earthquakes in other places - something about the plates of the earth shifting, creating pressure, and that pressure is released someplace else sometimes on the other side of the world. In fact the 2011 earthquake in DC was preceded by a significant earthquake in Japan though those quakes weren't days apart - I think it was months.

I woke up to my cat growling and then heard a rumbling sound and the windows shaking in Silver Spring. I thought it was a low-flying jet until I read the news.

I didn't but our cat was up half the night and agitated so it makes more sense now.

I have insomnia and wake up several times a night and I slept right through it!

I completely slept through it in Gaithersburg.
