That's trickier in this area where you could easily get a shot in DC at the CVS or doctors by your office and another one at the CVS by your house in the burbs in another state. I have doctors in three states only 5 miles apart.

My kids have each received shots in two different countries, which caused untold problems for these computerized systems.

At my last booster, they said all the records are kept by the state and you do not need to update the card. I still have them however with my childhood imm records.

I still have my polio booster records from 1989 and proof of chickenpox and rubella infections from childhood. Doctors sometimes ask these things.

I never had a Covid shot so no card for me. If I had it, I would keep it as a reminder of my stupidity.
