I think it really depends on what your "weakness" is...what do you reach for when you're stressed, tired, or need comfort? What can you not stop eating? Do you have a sweet tooth?

For example, for me, sugar was never a problem because I never crave sweets or sweeteners.

Don't listen to this "low carb" moron OP. They're stuck in 1997. Eat all the whole fruit you want, no matter how many carbs they have. The fiber and water is incredibly good for you. And fiber is "a carb."

Another low carb moron here. Laughing at this post.

Yup laughing at this loser. I lost 35 pounds on low carb. And have kept it off for 2 years.

Bread contains a shocking amount of calories and salt. Two pieces of commercial bread is already like 100-200 calories. 10% of DV in cals just for the bread of a sandwich alone. Sugar is in everything. Yogurts, cereals, dressings.....everything is soaked with sugar.

Alcohol is a no brainier, and for me the biggest contributor to weight gain. Alcohol messes up your metabolism. Each drink is a ton of calories. Let's be honest, people rarely have just one drink. Drinking sessions pack tons of cals on. And then your inhibitions ae lowered and you tend to eat garbage food with it or high fat, high salt, high cal snacks and dinner with booze. Cutting out booze is easily the best thing I've ever done for weight loss.

I don't think that 10% of your calories from the bread in a sandwich is a big deal if you are eating that sandwich as a meal.

Cakes, cookies, chocolate, sugar in coffee etc should be what u give up or cut down on

Fruits have too much sugar cut those out too, low carb, high protein low fat is the right way

WRONG! Don't fall for this nonsense. Eat as much fruit and veg as you want. Cook with good fats (olive oil) and eat good fats (avocados, nuts). Everything else is just a fad and total nonsense.

You are a low carb moron if you think ANY kind of white fruit or veg should be cut out.

Dumb

Like everything else, you can take low carb to too much of an extreme. Fruits have fiber, antioxidants, and phytochemicals that are all part of nutrition. Focusing on sugar and carbs alone is stupid.

This is what I did and I lost about 30 pounds and was able to keep it off fairly easily. I allow myself 8 squares of my favorite candy bar each day though lol.

Oh, and I also cut out rice and pasta. I was a bread/rice/pasta addict I think.

Bread is just one form of sugar.

I would definitely give up sugar, and, cut back on bread so far as white bread, white pasta and white rice. Stick with complex carbs like sweet potato, quinoa and other whole grains.

I stopped drinking around Christmas and I’ve lost seven pounds (woman, late thirties, was having 1/2 drinks daily).

I didn’t give up either for my weight loss. Moderation and not eating bread or sugar alone at one meal. Meaning combine the carbs with protein or healthy fat. Such as spread some peanut butter or avocado on the smaller piece of bread.
