Those of you with first-hand info; do you have feedback on these two MS? Either stronger academically/ enrichment/ electives than the other?

Thanks!

Are you joking? Of course Pyle.

Maybe its overall test score average is higher, but that doesn't equate to better, just fewer low-income kids. The same opportunities, curriculum, and even pool of teachers are at all these schools, so there is not a lot of difference. Outcomes have more to do with home life and parental education level.

Thank you PP. I thought I read that Pyle might have more electives, clubs and afterschool activities than Westland?

If pyle has more, then Westland must have close to zero. I don't think either has much. Sports teams and plays are competitive and limited to small numbers of students, and there are hundreds of kids per grade competing for the spots. Not many other activities at all. Whitman is a different story.

Thank you PP. Does Whitman (and BCC) have a lot?

Are you planning to move? You don’t get to pick schools.

Yes, can move to either school zone.

Stay put. Nothing special about either.

Thank you PP. I thought I read that Pyle was really strong. Also Whitman. I have been reading that BCC has been having problems with drugs etc.

Yes, can move to either school zone.

So, you will move twice?

Why would I move twice?

Pyle is the strongest in the state and one of the best in the Country.

No. Pyle is not even better than Frost.
The strongest in the state is TPMS.

OP here - so you do not think Pyle is stronger than Westland? I thought it is a positive that Westland is a smaller school. 800 or so students compared to 1300 at Pyle.

Pyle is stronger than Westland for sure.

The bar is not high to begin with, so if that’s true, it’s not saying much.

It’s not. Same curriculum, both have a mix of teacher quality, still tons of high achieving rich kids at BCC. Higher test scores don’t mean a thing in this context and if you think so such that it will impact your kid, you need to open your mind.

Pyles ratings went down and they have a lot of kids acting out too. I’d choose the school that works better with your commute. If your kid chooses nice rule following friends they’ll be fine in either place tho. Pyle is the weak link in the cluster but Whitman is good, so I might choose it for the high school option. I know less about BCC.
