+1000 double standard
There is no double-standard.
The voting age in local elections has long been 16.
This is just false. Nobody under the age of 18 has ever voted in a city election in DC. It has happened in a few local municipalities. But it is vanishingly rare, and recent nationwide.
This is not false at all. What YOU claim is false, PP. why are you lying?? (MAGA maybe?).
PP here.
Can you point me to something showing that anyone under the age 0f 18 has ever voted in DC?
No state and less than 25 cities confined to three states allow voting under the age of 18.
Listen, I am on the fence about lowering the voting age in local elections. I'm not arguing for or against it.
I am disputing the inaccurate statement that "the voting age in local elections has long been 16." This is not true, at least in general elections.

Too many imbeciles are allowed to decide the fate of all of us, esp. in the dumb states that get the same amount of representatives as the states that produce the revenue for this country.

Anonymous wrote:OK, you can vote as young as 14 but you only get to vote for 50 years. If you start at 14, you are disenfranchised at 64. If you wait until 21, you can vote until you're 71. Also, nobody over 75 gets to vote. Or hold public office.
The older folks bother me more than the young ones.

Anonymous wrote:I agree with pp, the voting age should begin with 26 and cap out at 77. Foreign nationals should NOT vote because that allows countries to send people here and destroy the country from within.
In the same vein, those who cannot vote should not have to pay taxes. So, in their early years and retirement years, they get to save money.
Anonymous wrote:18 is fine. I'm also okay with 16-year-olds voting in local municipal elections only since they are directly affected by decisions about schools, so there's that. But that's all.
There are some people on the right who want to raise the age to 25 or even 30, arguing something about prefrontal cortex development and having skin in the game as far as contributing to society. By their logic, we should also cap the voting age at 75, so people losing their mental faculties due to advanced age shouldn't vote either. But right wingers don't argue that for some reason.
I say leave it as it is, but since minors under 18 can't vote, they shouldn't have to pay income taxes. Let them keep their summer gig earnings for chrissakes.

NYC is working on it. The foreign nationals part though, not cats and dogs.

And todays teens are much better informed.
Shouldn’t they have some say in their own lives?
*chortle*
You’re joking, right? Just because you can use Google doesn’t make you better informed.
