Women are often expected to have creative or artistic hobbies, but not all women are so inclined.

Your hobby doesn’t have to produce anything (scrapbook, cookies, blanket), it can just be something you enjoy and work toward mastery. It's pretty easy. Find a YouTube tutorial and spend 30 minutes or so with. Get a large-ish crochet hook and fat yarn to start, and I recommend getting both a hook and yarn in lighter but contrasting colors as it will make it easier to see what you are doing.

A lot of people recommend starting with granny squares and I know people who have done it that way and enjoyed it, but I preferred to start with a scarf. My second project was a beanie hat and I wound up liking it so much I made three. I get really bored with granny squares and don't find them satisfying.

I've been wanting to learn cake decorating for years.


Michaels used to offer classes. It was fun.

My main hobby is glass work - kiln formed and stained glass. I also decorate cakes and cookies, scrapbook, sew, make jewelry, kayak and some other stuff. I go to the gym but don’t consider it a hobby because I hate it. One thing I wish i could find is something my family also enjoys so I’d have hobby company.

Competitive dog sports. Training, practice, competitions for things like agility, flyball, disc tricks. Love my pups! Best part is the kids are getting involved too, so we can do trials together. (Classes are solely me time though!)

I take a community ceramics class because it forces me to designate time to my hobby every week and not succumb to work and family obligations. Other than that, reading, and not much else.
