Our cleaning lady is absolutely wonderful but I do insist that she use our vacuum cleaner. I just don't want other people's dirt/dust in my house. We also have a central vac system that she says she prefers to her vacuum so I guess it's a win-win.

Is this a thing?

Yes, I’m very well aware I’m an anxious person before anybody spends time pointing that out lol.

Yes ofc she could be. We give ours our own rags/sponges etc to use only at our house.

The one thing we do worry about is bed bugs. Using their vacuum at other homes and ours (I know someone this happened to). But short of buying a vacuum cleaner like theirs ( we have little carpet) not sure anything is to be done on that.

Get an inexpensive vacuum for the cleaner to use at your house.

Same. I provide all cleaning supplies which includes Lysol multisurface and toilet cleaners.

I worked for a cleaning service very very briefly one summer during college. It may have been Merry Maids but honestly don't remember--I do remember being cheated out of wages (like not getting paid when we were riding in their van and then waiting an hour for some reason--some of the jobs they had were last cleanup for new construction and sorority houses and we'd sit through delays). Anyway, everything was cleaned with a few drops of Dawn dish detergent in a bucket of water. I did other jobs during college where I was hired directly by homeowners through a campus office and really cleaned those places.

This is why I don't have a cleaning service. This and other reasons. Not worth the headache. They wear their shoes most of the time which is understandable but I don't want to pay someone to bring germs into the house like dog poop. No thanks.

Fabuloso doesn't even kill germs.

I would provide all cleaning supplies. I'd assume yes.

Our cleaners use our rags and throw them in the washer when they leave.

This never occurred to me, but I’ve always supplied all cleaning products and equipment.

Antibacterial is not the same as antiviral.

I never buy antibacterial anything. Scam

But how do you cope with going anywhere outside your own house? Do you have children?

There is also the issue of how cleaning products are used. The objective is to make things look as good as possible, full stop. They use strong cleaning products so it is easy/quick to remove dirt and they don't rinse these off because that takes additional time. So most home surfaces will be coated with chemicals afterward, which is why it smells "fresh" when they leave. People spend lots of money at organic markets to avoid pesticides but then live in a house coated with cleaning chemicals.
