Parking for a day? No big deal.

But to park in front of someone else's house for a days, or a week, and leave your car unmoved... that's incredibly rude.

Of course there is no law against it, OP acknowledged that. But, it's generally polite neighbor behavior to park in front of your own home if possible. And it seems like it is possible here. Do you have to? Of course not, but again, it's the neighborly thing to do. DCUM is full of so sad, too bad people who can never understand normal politeness.

We have a bunch of guests at our house and we asked that the car that doesn't fit in front of our house park a touch down the street in front of some woods rather than in front of our neighbor's house. Polite, neighborly.

Maybe if you live in a really urban area where parking is in super short supply it’s not rude. But if you live somewhere with parking in front of your own house then yes it is wildly rude to instead park in front of your neighbors. If you can’t get that I can’t help you.

I park in front of my neighbor’s house just to annoy him.

OP we lived in a nice neighborhood in NW. all of the houses on our street had 2 car garages and driveways. We had a strange tiny 1920s garage that was too low for my car but the neighbors had an addition with a big, new garage and driveway. I had 3 kids 3 and under so really wanted to park close to our steps. Well the au pair from next door parked in front of our steps all of the time. I finally asked her if there was any way she could park in front of her house or in their driveway. She told me that her bosses wouldn’t let her bc her car (which was theirs) was too old and dumpy, they didn’t want it in front of their house. These were big detached houses and because of the curb cuts, I had to park in front of their house and get 2 babies who couldn’t walk yet and a toddler to our steps bc apparently the jerks thought my car was more presentable than the one they had the au pair drive their kid in. Some people are just weird.

If I’m understanding OP’s post correctly, it seems that the neighbor is choosing to park on the street directly in front of OP’s house instead of the portion of road in front of neighbors own house. That would annoy the heck out of me too. Thinking about what this looks like, I assume we are talking about single family homes in the suburbs and not row houses on a city street.
In a previous house I have called out a previous neighbor that was parking on the road in front of my house. The piece of road he was using was further away from his house, so a longer walk for him, which did not make any sense… people are just strange I guess.

OP here, you understand my point exactly. And yes, this not like downtown houses where houses are so close to each other. It’s a community with houses spaced out and with long drive ways. Nobody in our community parks in the streets. Of course, it’s not illegal. I just wish they park on there side.

Parking on their side of the street but directly behind your driveway would be more of a hassle.
My husband would be annoyed. I don't really care.
One upside is that it might deter criminals from breaking into your house when you aren't home.

We both have long driveways. Each of our drive ways can fit upto 6.
