1/2 cup of white vinegar with every wash, always leave door and tray open when not in use. Simple and will get rid of any mold issues.

I live in an apartment and have no choice in my awful Whirlpool front loader. Also, it’s in a tiny closet in a narrow hallway so we can’t keep the door open. Hello, mold!

+1 This, exactly.

Front-loaders have a technology that was never meant to be supersized. If your machine doesn’t spin out at 1400+rpm, you have more residual moisture. Large machines with heavier loads spin at lower speeds.
European brands generally don’t have this issue.

Never had this problem with our GE front loader for the 15 years we had it. We had it repaired in the last year before it died and the tech would have found it inside if there had been any.

Probably helps that we are in a dry climate—I think I’d have second thoughts about one if I was still doing laundry in the damp Arlington basement we used to have.

Front loaders are a scam. Never again.

Of all the things to buy for aesthetics, a washer isn't one of them. We got a front loader 20 years ago because it uses less water, gets clothes cleaner and was gentler on clothing.

Switched back to top loader. Like it a lot better. Easier to load/unload and easier to get dry between cycles.

Like many, We have an LG front loader and are very happy. Even months I run the front loaders cleaning cycle one time with a cup of bleach (and nothing else). Odd months I run the same cleaning cycle 1 time with Glisten Clothes washer cleaner (Walmart) to remove build up (because Washington aqueduct water is very hard). No hard water build up and no mold.

We do keep the front door ajar/open when not in use.

I bought a front loader, so I had a top put all my folded laundry to sit for days and days and days.

LOL you can still do that with the dryer if you have a top loading washer!
