You’re not going to be able to avoid children in public. It will be simpler to learn to deal with your disappointment and anger. I have children but had to give up my big career entirely, and all around me I see people who are thriving in their big careers. They’re not doing it to mock me.

Also, check out the glucose revolution (book). There are really interesting links between infertility and glucose spikes. I suggest this only because it helped me, not to be an annoying know it all when you are feeling down.

This. I'm sorry OP. I struggled too and was very active on this forum. It would suck when clueless insensitive ppl would come in and spit off nonsense without ever experiencing what you are going through.

Sorry OP. This is a very hard time of year to be struggling without a child when you desperately want one. Just one! It's all I want. Heartbroken.

Even people struggling with secondary infertility have a child to focus on.

This year I'm buying a baby blanket and wrapping it under the tree. It's an old wives tale but it can't hurt.

Do not open them. Straight to trash. People on here pathologizing your feelings are just mean. I like the other poster’s wise advice of showing up for the big stuff and reserving your mental energy the rest of the time.

That sounds normal to me OP. Don’t listen to the mean, lacking in compassion people here. If you know the cards will upset you, it’s okay to not open them, not look at them, and certainly don’t torture yourself by displaying them.

I hated getting cards after my daughter was stillborn. I understand that you still wouldn’t want to look at mine now, even if you knew me and knew what I’d gone through before having a healthy, living kid. I get it. And it’s okay. Give yourself the gift of peace and toss the cards.

Christmas is really hard when you’re struggling with infertility. All the talk of a birth, joy, new beginnings, loved ones, how magical it is for children. Sending you big hugs. I hope 2024 treats you kindly.
