I am looking for an experienced lawyer who could go to court if necessary, but who would also try to help me negotiate with a difficult husband and his lawyer first. Primary interest is in setting up a positive coparenting and custody arrangement that will work with the busy schedules of two middle schoolers. Currently DH is not involved at all and likely has little idea of what a custody arrangement will entail in his caring for his kids.

However he’s asking that we each have a lawyer look over the agreement before signing, and while I don’t want someone who’s a shark and will stir the pot, I also want someone who will genuinely present me with viable options for protecting me and my interests in the agreement. Definitely don’t want to be pushed to litigation.
Any recommendations? We are in Northern Virginia.
What exactly do you need them to look over? What issues are you concerned about will bring you to litigation? Get the checks in hand and then sign.

She wasn’t the right fit for what i need because there’s a chance my situation may end up a sloppy litigious mess which doesn’t work with her current schedule, but I really liked her a lot. She seemed like she’d be perfect for what you’re looking for.

Are you Heather ? Or her friend ?
Heather has been in practice for decades and owns one of the largest family law firms in the area so I doubt she's self promoting on DCUM lol! That said, PP at their firm Nathan does a lot of litigation and handled my friend's messy case when her ex tried to get away with international child kidnapping.
A lawyer self promoting: well I never! You are saying a lot for a rando who just had a consultation with Heather
