Christian Lapham at BKK. Was able to keep what should have been a high conflict divorce out of court. Never once pushed for it but was also great at encouraging me not to be a pushover with my ex. Resulted in a very fair division of assets and alimony that ex was trying hard to get out of paying.

Ciara Miller @ Krogmann’s firm rocks. She has a lot of litigation experience too.

Sometimes you want a lawyer who is smart enough but not smarter than you, because they all have a financial incentive to keep billing, but the ones who are smarter than you will figure out how to get you on board with it. The ones who aren’t quite that smart will make an argument to you about why you should fight that won’t quite make sense to you, and then cooler heads (yours and your stbx’s) can prevail. In my case, they described a asset-split counter offer as terrible and unacceptable even though the asset-split % was basically identical (though with a different composition) to one we had proposed.

Lawyers can also be surprisingly bad at arithmetic — not many STEM majors amongst them.

Heather has been in practice for decades and owns one of the largest family law firms in the area so I doubt she's self promoting on DCUM lol! That said, PP at their firm Nathan does a lot of litigation and handled my friend's messy case when her ex tried to get away with international child kidnapping.
