When the prisons are full, crime goes down.
There is no political desire to lower crime in DC. It is going to get a lot worse. Keep your fingers crossed you and your loved ones are not a victims. (You already are a victim every month paying significantly higher car insurance than you would elsewhere, eating more expensive food due to many restaurants paying 40k per month for security, etc)

We are house hunting. 20 years in DC. The mayor and council aren’t even taking this issue seriously, let alone treating it like the 5 alarm fire it is.
There is clearly no urgency at all to the crime wave. I can’t tell if they’re too insulated to know this, or just don’t want to address the problem.

Just to further the issue service providers are worried about coming into our areas for fear of getting rob. Its not worth the job to them. So it is going to be great fun when we can no longer get a plumber or electrician to come because they don't want to be robbed.
Just waiting for kids to finish HS and them we are out!

They’re not allowed to chase. You voted for the people who implemented that.
Pretty sure there was no "chase" of the 17 year-old who stole the FBI's vehicle. They investigated and collected evidence.
So to answer the question not being addressed by anyone: yes, probably 60% of MPD is refusing to do their job. The Mayor and the Council don't say anything because they are worried the remaining 40% will stop doing their job, as well. There needs to be a change in culture at MPD and the USAO's office.
I was responding to the PP and the now infamous Washington Post story of the carjacked being tracked.
The Council and DC juries have made it very clear they do not want a muscular, aggressive police force.
THANK YOU! I’m sick of people saying this is MPD’s issue. This is what the politicians want. One person’s “police work stoppage” is really “police doing what the politicians actually want them to do.” Politicians do not want enforcement.
Want change? Then vote accordingly. Period.

After living in the district for three decades, we're leaving. We've had it. Feeling like we're we're on our own (can't rely on 911, police, fire...none of it). We need vigilante justice to deal with these criminals. Our tax dollars aren't supplying the security we are paying for.
