This definitely happened to me last month, my insurance is handling it -- is there anything I need to do. The fact it is likely a scam explains so much -- the sudden braking driver was so quick to just get insurance and leave, and had no explanation as to why they came to a stop in the middle of the highway.

FWIW, I was in the right lane and following at a great distance, but I was in an unfamiliar area so at the exact moment he slammed on brakes I was looking at for exit signs.

Is there anything I should do or is it just up to my insurance now?

+1

If you drive normally you are be less likely to be a target.

So hopefully you never get lost or spill a soda on the freeway.

How can I record this behavior if I'm in this situation and how can I protect myself physically?

to OP - I don't have time to read all of the responses, but what you describe has been around at least 20 years, most notably in California where such antics were seen as a way to get money from the victim or the victim's insurance company. I'm sure you can google this

That's just a Tuesday in Maryland.

And exactly WTF is the point of someone speeding around an already-slow driver, to pull in front of them and stand on their brakes, so they’re now going even SLOWER than the slow car they just went around in a fit of rage?

I hate the people around here. I can easily imagine probably 80% of the posters on this forum doing exactly that.

100% agree. Probably many posters of DCUM fit this to a T.
