80% of students at Pitt get zero merit. Everyone asking “where’s my scholarship” like their owed one.
Most people aren’t getting one.
Additionally, offers have slowed down considerably during the last month.

Last year very, very few CS majors got any merit. Son 4.0, 1520 got honors college but no merit at Pitt, got 16K merit at UMass and no honors college.

Wow. So where did your child end up going?

UMD in-state Honors College a little merit

Well, Pitt in general is ranked much higher than Drexel. It’s not even close.

You can cross enroll at Carnegie Mellon too-don’t know all details but could provide some advantage.

It's very hard to get merit for CS. They don't need to "buy" students for that program because so many students want to major in CS.

It depends on the major. CS sometimes gets $0.

I assume, OP, your kid is not CS since they received $5K?

My kid was CAS and received $5K. The merit awards are much lower as Pitt has chosen to give most merit to PA residents and/or those with demonstrated need.

Just to clarify for others, that was a merit scholarship, which has nothing to do with financial aid. The FAFSA hasn’t even come out yet.

PP here. Yes, it was merit because that is what OP was asking.

Well, you referred to “FA letter” which means financial aid.

...which includes merit aid.
