There is nothing, NOTHING! as good as Taylor ham, egg and cheese on a Kaiser roll. Absolute perfection.

I’m PP with the generous neighbor who was kind enough to introduce me to this delicacy. She’s moved out of the area unfortunately. Now outside of ordering it online or driving to New Jersey is there a store in the DMV that sells it? Would love to add it to my breakfast rotation.

Do people eat boston baked beans and boston brown bread or is that a myth that i just made up in my mind in this moment?

My mom made both of these, yet she was from Maryland.

Is she Irish, by chance?

On it. We put tater tots on it, not in it. And there’s not one hot dish, there are hundreds and you’ve eaten them. They’re called “casseroles” everywhere else.

+1 a “hot dish” is not unique to Minnesota.

Not pp, but my grandfather who spent his teens in Newton and then went to MIT did. I have canned brown bread in my cupboard (it’s terrible compared to homemade) and make homemade baked beans (they are delicious and nothing like the canned stuff).

That reminds me of Kentucky's "Hot Brown," an open-faced sandwich on toasted white bread with roasted turkey, bacon, tomatoes, and Mornay sauce. Named after the Brown Hotel where it was invented.

It's called pork roll!

Agreed. Taylor is a brand, along with Case and Trenton Roll. Pork Roll is the overall meat. Just like cola is the type of drink, and Coke, Pepsi and RC are different brands that make it.

Two things are indisputable, though - Taylor is the best among them, and a porkroll, egg and cheese on a roll is the greatest sandwich of all time (not greatest breakfast sandwich, greatest sandwich, period.)

I just found out that maypops are a native southern fruit. They're I'm looking for leftover seed pods on neighbors' vines to plant next year (likely better germination than from purchased seed because sensitive to moisture content. Too dry won't sprout.)

'Nduja - a spicy spreadable sausage from Calabria region of Italy. I grew up in New Jersey, with several high quality Italian delis close to my house, yet I'd never heard of this stuff until recently. It's quite good!

Also in true North Jersey form, I approve of the PPs who are properly calling that delicious salty pork product and essential bagel sandwich ingredient "Taylor Ham," not Pork Roll.
