But really, can’t this be any song with solid lyrics that they can figure out the harmonics to? Like that little mermaid part of your world clip where the girl goes up on the kitchen counter that pops up on everyone’s shorts for example.
The one thing with this is that you have to have a key shift because very few guys have the range for the song in the original key. That said, there are several good male/female versions of this song on Youtube, so they can search for male/female covers and find one in a key that works for them.
They should check out the Youtube page of Matt and Savanna Shaw. This is a father-daughter combo that does a lot of covers and they are both fantastic singers. They have a lot of duets that are not love-duets but are good for male/female combos.
From classic musicals:
"It Takes Two" - Into the Woods
"Suddenly Seymour" from Little Shop of Horrors
"Soon It's Gonna Rain" or "They Were You" from The Fantasticks
"A Whole New World" from Aladdin
"Somewhere Out There" from An American Tail (but listen to the version with James Ingram and Linda Ronstadt)
"The Tennis Song" from City of Angels
If they want something a little more modern,
"Only Us" from Dear Evan Hanson is designed for their age and from a more recent musical.
Also "In a Crowd of Thousands" from Anastasia
