My 22yo son is graduating this spring from undergrad and just got LinkedIn this past summer. We “forced” him because to put the url on his resume. Otherwise he prob wouldn’t have it.
He has a Instagram account with I think 2000 followers but he has never posted and it’s not his “name”. No Facebook or X for him either. Our other kid is the opposite though and is on social media like it’s a job.
My 45yo brother just lost his $$$$ job of 15 years and never had or considered creating a LinkedIn until now… and we had to talk him into it.
So no… not necessarily a red flag if employed urban professionals don’t have LI. it was initially considered just for networking and getting a job but I’ve been on it for 10 years and it’s becoming more like FB and the other social media with people post memes, stories and first day of school pictures.
