I 100% agree. I’m pregnant with a girl. I’m looking for a name with a similar vibe as Shea— just as you described (familiar and easy/approachable but not overused/common). Any ideas? Anyone? I don’t mean to hijack your post, OP. Maybe it can be helpful to you too?

Why wouldn’t you want a common name? It’s so weird to seek out something obscure.

Really? Meet my kids: Livingston, Betsy, Muffy, Chip, and Shea?

It’s my son’s middle name. It’s a family name for us (last name of Irish origin).

Chipper Jones, who played 3B for the Braves named a son Shea, because Shea Stadium was his favorite to play in.

I went to college with a cool woman named Shani. Just throwing it out there.

Just keep in mind that it's often going to be pronounced as "She-ah" when someone reads it for the first time.

And that your kid is going to have to go through life spelling their first name out.

You must not know old money.

I know a girl named Shay. I like the name and prefer that spelling because I don't have to think about how it's pronounced.

I figured the Shay spelling is to try to prevent people from thinking "shea butter" or it's a shortened form of Shayna ("pretty" in Yiddish). Or I assume Shea or Shay is a last-name-turned-first-name (Irish).

Surprised this got to page 2 before someone mentioned the Mets. It’s not bad but that’s what I think of first.
