They know they've got some "zero stars, do not recommend" reviews waiting in the wings.
Probably both.
+1. This thread is supposed to be funny! And it is. By the way, I can think of 3 people that I have dealt with over the years that would only merit 1 - 2 stars, and I am 100% confident that others would agree with me. One of them is a client I had to fire and one was a crazy boss.
No, it’s not funny to joke about anonymously ruining reputations and professional careers based on arbitrary measures. My psychopathic ex used to make lots of “funny” jokes too and I’d try to laugh it off to be a good sport. I won’t anymore. THIS IDEA IS NOT FUNNY!
Lady, I'm not your ex. This is an actual joke and it's not about you, personally. It's about the general idea that sometimes I wish I could "review" people I encounter because "1 star, do not recommend" is a sick burn. You are personalizing this to a level that is unhealthy and my best advice to you is to take a little break from the internet.
You are really harassing me pre-holiday giddiness.

Flame away.
Anonymous wrote:OP here. Obviously the whole thing would backfire and I'm clearly making a joke.
However, this thread was prompted by an interaction with a person who I feel confident would get a "consensus" vote for zero or one star from pretty much everyone who interacts with them, and it would be deeply satisfying for us all to be able to recount our frankly insane interactions with his person in a public forum. I think the screen shots of text and email exchanges with them, alone, would tell a story.
Like when you look up a restaurant on Yelp and all the photos are of the rats and roaches people spotted in the establishment, and every review is like "these are the rudest, least helpful people I've ever met and the food was inedible."
It would just be useful for other people to know.

It was not obvious.
Stoking anger, doxing, prejudice, hatred, canceling, and retaliation, are not healthy and do not promote a healthy discussion.
