I can’t believe people are giving the mom grief for sleeping in. These kids had a parent present. Why reinforce such gender stereotypes by insisting the mom must be around.

I think it was likely cluelessness by the BIL and not rudeness. But rather than being annoyed, a good response would have been something like, “Great. I’m a one-style cook myself when it comes to eggs. I’ll whip up some scrambled eggs for Larlo and my kids. Here are the eggs and pans for you for your and Larla’a eggs. Please make yourself at home.”

This is probably what they do at home so he thinks its no big deal. I'd have no issues with it. Pop the bacon in the microwave, bread and the toaster, and let those cook while the eggs are being done.

It would have been rude if you said you were making scrambled eggs for everyone and then they requested a different preparation. But you asked and the answer he gave isn't something some people find crazy.

I do it all the time. There’s nothing to it.

For breakfast I make my own family different types of eggs so I wouldn't have a problem with this. I would have assigned him something though - "here is the bread, go ahead and make the toast while I make the eggs. The plates are in that cabinet. Help yourself to coffee and juice "

I assume OP was already preparing multiple meals for the guests. So I think it's rude. OP isn't there just to wait on them.

I'm surprised by the people who think asking for this breakfast was OK. If they're guests, they should be minimizing their host's hassle:
What do you want for breakfast?
Oh, anything -- what's easy for you?
[Then OP can either offer to make multiple kinds of eggs, etc. or point to the cold cereal or suggest that they leave the house and all get donuts]

If they're family and feel comfortable asking for multiple items, OP should feel comfortable saying, "OK, sounds like you have a whole thing going on, so I'll leave you to it. Let me know if you can't find something or need help" and leave them to make their own breakfast.

I think you are annoying and rude. You asked what they wanted, and they honestly told you. I get it’s not what you wanted to hear or do but, they were honest, I wish more people meant what they said.

I think this shines a light on the inner workings of your sister's household more than anything. BIL is a little clueless, the kids are being normal kids, and your sister is lilely accommodating. Fine. And your BIL probably feels comfortable enough (or clueless) to ask for a specialized meal.
