But, you didn't address the bolded. The continuing encroachment on Palestinian lands made them angry. There were discussions of a peace deal, but that ended because of the continued settlements that Israel allowed.

That's why Israel loves Hamas. The response to a question about West Bank settlements is, but Hamas even though Fatah (who has recognized Israel and is pro-peace) hold power in the West Bank. As long as Hamas was in power in a strip of land no one cared about, Israel had an excuse to take land that they did care about.

Conspiracy theories seem to proliferate in our society these days. The idea that Israel loves Hamas is pure fantasy. I don’t think they like having random terrorist attacks from a group that vows to destroy Israel. You make no sense. The ultra orthodox settlers are a problem but to make them on the same level of Hamas is wrong.
