I should also add about Melissa Clarks pecan pie, it has no corn syrup and "less goop and more nuts". Its not as sweet as the usual pecan pie.

In the past, I've made pecan, but I've never been 100% satisfied with the various recipes I've tried. The brown butter pecan pie recipe I saw in the Post today looks promising though.

The past few years, I've made chess or lemon chess, but I'm not sure I'm feeling those this year.

Any other ideas? We're not really a chocolate family, but any other suggestions are welcome!

Melissa Clark's pecan pie recipe in the Times is one of my favorite desserts. I get rave reviews every time.

Exactly what I was going to post. Melissa Clark's recipes alone make the Cooking app subscription price totally worth it for me, and the Nutmeg-Maple Cream Pie is amazing. This is the one my kids clamor for at Thanksgiving and I usually make two for my family of 5, more if we're having a lot of guests, because the kids will take it hands-down over apple and pumpkin any day of the week (but I make those as well).

I know this isn’t what you had in mind, but Edward’s Chocolate Creme Pie in the frozen foods section is excellent and I think better than most chocolate cream pies I’ve had.

I’m a food snob and this is excellent. Hydrogenated oils and all. I would definitely get this over any pie from Costco or grocery store bakery, if you want easy. If nothing else, the kids will be all over it

Edward's Key Lime Pie is legit as well. If you need something with a bit more tang.
