WVU, Montona, MS... much more impressive than UVA, IMO, because those universities aren't known for their strong academics.
The other scores, that you mentioned won virtually all of their Rhodes scholarships decades ago.
Anonymous wrote:Why is Rhodes a big deal? Its scope and selection is so narrow and limited to civic leaderships and English speaking/culture.
People here are treating it like Nobel Prizes, which is a joke.

Which just goes to prove that Rhodes Scholars don’t always attend prestigious universities. It’s a nice accolade to brag about, but really isn’t important when ranking universities.
Of course it's important. It's what students and parents look for when applying to college. The fact that UVA is public and the top public producer of Rhodes (after west point) in the US is something everyone in the DCUM area should be proud about. https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/universities-by-number-of-rhodes-scholars.html
dp.. parents don't really look at how many Rhodes scholars the college has when their kids apply. They do look at rankings, and UVA is not ranked *that high*. It also depends on the major.
UVA is now a T24. And top public producer of Rhodes Scholars. Sorry you don't like facts. Why can't you be happy we have such great public schools here?

They're just trying to get your goat. You took the bait!

UVA is so underrated—truly the best public Ivy.

LOL. It was just 1 year, not really a big sample size. Stanford and Duke do more than fine for prestigious postgrad scholarships: https://www.k-state.edu/about/scholars/NationalScholarsRankingChart2017%20allschools.pdf
From 1986-2017:
1. Harvard
2. Yale
3. Stanford
4. Princeton
5. Duke
6. MIT
...
??? UVA (not listed in top 10)
UVA is no 8 in the US, the top public producer after West Point. https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/universities-by-number-of-rhodes-scholars.html.
It looks like PP listed the most recent years, it says 1986-2017. That is probably more relevant than whoever was getting Rhodes scholars in the early 1900s.
Well that's distorted logic. The fact that UVA wins year after year and has come UP since 2017 argues the opposite. It's no. 8 behind the best privates (all old) and west point. https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/universities-by-number-of-rhodes-scholars.html
