Telling me a meme was old

But she referred to it a few weeks later. I said it’s old. Ha ha. She said, well sometimes you can refer to old memes just for fun.

I said, yep that’s what I was doing. So don’t call me out. I get that it’s old, or I don’t get it. But I can refer to an old meme and it doesn’t mean I’m stupid.

Really inane exchange, but that’s life when your kid calls you out for an old meme, then uses it a few weeks later.

Mine makes fun of my texting. Like saying lol too much or using the crying laughing emoji. Conversely I make fun of her “didn’t properly learn phonics” spelling.

I heard a version of that one. He said I probably wasn't much fun when I was his age and that I didn't have a life. Another time, I told him about growing up with my violent, alcoholic father and how that made me not want to drink much. I also told him that my lack of a social life made it possible for him to do all of the awesome stuff he was currently doing! Gave him something to think about.

Friend’s kid said to her—you’re not my mom, you used to be my mom but you’re not now, told them they were more fun before they got sober (the mom’s been sober for years), and a couple of more choice really mean things. I was stunned at the viciousness of it. Father is abusive. Parents are divorced. Repeated my advice to get the kid into counseling.

My younger brother said this to me when he was a freshmen in high school. I was trying to help him with his homework. I will always remember this moment!

To the poster who keeps judging others for being bothered by mean things, their kids have said - Here is some free insight- just because it doesn't hurt you does not mean it isn't hurtful.
