Is it even possible to run out places to visit in Italy and France?

I think Vienna and Salzburg would check all the boxes. And May should be nice weather. Vienna has a very good food scene - do some research and make reservations. Vienna is totally walkable, and pleasantly so. Lots of interesting architecture, and you can do some high brow things like the opera and historically significant museums.

Salzburg is just gorgeous and is well worth and overnight side trip.

Just check on availability for things you want to see and do because Austria will have a lot of Catholic holidays in May.

Checkout Pine Tree Club in Annapolis for a memorable weekend escape of a lifetime.
