I hope your sibs are there for you, too (or at least step into that more and more as they get older and the age gap seems to narrow). Sometimes this is the benefit of having extra difficult parents - the siblings turn to each other for support, grow very close, and have each others’ backs through adulthood. Happy to say it’s been that way for me and my brother. (Recently, it’s been a godsend as our parents are aging. So nice to be a team rather than at each others’ throats.)

Wow! OP’s sister is very lucky to have had her help. Lots of good schools and sounds like they would be a better fit for OP’s sister anyway. Plus the deferral is a soft landing on the alma mater. Brava!
