Avoid BCC Select. The coaching is too variable. The program always struggles to find enough committed coaches so there is usually at least one coach who was dragged into it reluctantly and doesn’t know how to run a practice or improve his team’s obvious areas of weakness. That is almost never a good experience. And the draft is a mess — the PP who said the evaluations are inaccurate was spot on. It’s glorified rec ball.

DC Dynasty Baseball is decent. They usually have two teams (A & B Teams). The A teams usually have the most skilled players.

When does your child turn 11? If before may, I heard MoCo Grays just had kids drop on the 11u team (cutoff is may 1 I think) and looking for players NOW

Does anyone know of any DC,MD, or VA travel teams that have openings for 10U baseball for this Fall 2024 Season?

DC Dynasty may have a slot or two depending on age group

Koa Waves are looking to add a handful of players for this fall. Not sure if their needs line up with your kids ages.

We did Wild Bill for a year after Little League. It was good, not crazy competitive like other leagues, but good skill-building. My DS liked his coach and team. Paid coaches, so no "daddy ball". Practices were usually in DC (Takoma Rec Center or Guy Mason) games were in Northern Virginia as they played in NVTBA

Maryland Nationals was a great fit for us even though we had to travel a bit. Practices however are pretty central for families.

Program is geared towards high school prep. Even in the off season my DS loves coming back to train. He ended up at St John’s (DC) and was well prepared for the rigorous demands of their full year training schedule. All of his teammates made their high school teams….some public Whitman BCC Churchill and others SJC Georgetown Prep Bullis etc.
Md Nats is a smaller program but I’m glad we found them.

DS was on the original MD Nationals team when they were just getting started. There was just one team and a development program for younger kids at the time. It was a very positive environment. Coach Joey is a great guy and I’m glad to hear the program has grown by leaps and bounds.

MD Nationals have a good program and if you live a convenient distance from their facility in Rockville there's a ton of options. Their winter training program is particularly good and offers specific training in arm care, pitching, catching, fielding and hitting, plus strength training for 13u+. The kids who work hard will be rewarded.

I've had two sons in travel. MD Nationals are great but start older. DigIn is also a good program. Koa has rebuilt their travel program and would be worth talking to as they might have more spots to fill. Coaches seemed great.

Perfect for where you live and the best organization in the area.

Coaches for Big Train change every year so be sure you know who you are getting when tryouts roll around in the summer. I agree with the poster who said the grass is brown everywhere. Communication is not a strength of BCC/Big Train unless you have a strong parent manager but that is only about scheduling/logistics. Some coaches are more engaged than others and some are disappointing.
