There is a GPA requirement of 3.5. It’s tough to get in. I know kids who were not accepted.
DD had a 3.3 and is in the freshman class. 2.5 was the cutoff for consideration last year. Admissions is more holistic. That said, I had a really good feeling during the interview that she was deemed a good fit.

commute, sports, friends going, more course offerings, want a larger school, kid wants to go to JR...
+1
Some kids don’t want to do a long commute, wants sports practice and teams actually play at their school, have a full campus, more course offerings, etc. Walls does not have good communication or organization in terms of admin. Banneker is very old school and can be too over the top in terms of admin.

3.5? I don't remember a GPA requirement when my kid applied 2 years ago. I seem to recall a suggested minimum GPA of 3.5. Or is that more of the "actual" minimum GPA like Walls 3.8 or whatever the latest actual cutoff was.

You have to go to the individual high schools' web sites (I know, this is crazy and seems totally antithetical to centralizing the process via myschooldc).
Here's what I've found:
Banneker: this Saturday 11/4
Walls: 11/18 and 12/13 - must register in advance, cap on number of attendees
McKinley: I can't tell if this is for this year or not, https://mckinleytech.org/m/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=417347&type=d
