In more ways than one. My wallet is smaller, my waistline is larger.

The only things I keep spending some money on are trips and restaurants. We all have too much stuff. Considering I have a bucket list of 3-4 trips plus having to visit relatives overseas and the occasional actual vacation, there’s no way I would want to give up traveling.

I’m not even struggling to afford the inflated prices I’m just fed up with the tipflation, greedflation, excuseflation and the sub par service as of late.

Since you aren’t struggling to pay the increased prices maybe donate to some people who are.

What’s your point? Nobody needs to spend just because. That’s like continuing to eat food well after being full.

We did the no more want spending when Obama was elected. Paid off our house in 7 years. No regrets. It was the best thing we did and allowed my husband to retire early.
If only my husband's DIL could at least try that the financial mess they are in could be corrected but no, she's gotta spend every damn penny they make. When your ac breaks and you don't have the money to fix it that should be your warning to save something for a rainy day. You would think right ? Now might be a good time to open an emergency fund with whatever you can save and be committed to saving. Or maybe open a second fund, split the savings for two and not touch one ever. Just keep adding and never subtracting. That's what we did. In one year it has $12k in it. We even named it health fund. For our health and welfare.

I really don't care about eating out or anyone else's finances, bottom line is me and mine. Not trying to be mean but no one pays our bills but us. And I don't see others caring about me or how we're weathering the financial storm everyone thinks is not going on. It IS going on. So that's that. Time to be selfish and look out for us.

There’s enough Americans addicted to consuming useless crap to keep us all afloat. The economy doesn’t need my money. I need it.

Im with you. I e done a decent amount of travel this year (just said F it,- can’t take my money with me) and everywhere I went was so miserably crowded. I’m not even going to begin to resume travel until the kids are outbid the house and I’m not stuck traveling when everyone else is. And don’t get me started on restaurants. Quality is in the shitter and prices are sky high.

I did safaris (3 different parks) in Kenya this August and it was so over run with obnoxious environmentally disrespectful Chinese tourists it makes for a miserable experience. Even the Kenyans were disgusted.

I agree OP! My only exception is patronizing the local restaurants and bakeries in my own neighborhood. I don't want those to go away!

January is the perfect time for it. I'm exhausted by doing ALL.THE.THINGS for the holidays, eating all the rich food and am satisfied with new presents. It's also terrible weather outside. Our family does a lot of game nights and movie nights, which we didn't have much time for in December.

Yes, I totally agree. I told my friend that having thought about it - I want to stick to doing it in January, after all the excess of December.
