Yes, apples and oranges...but this past summer we missed our early morning connection flight in Madrid that was going to Lisbon and they didn't rebook up until a flight at 11 at night...skipping by several Madrid to Lisbon fllights.

Oh heck no! That would give me so much anxiety. I'm surprised the airlines are even allowing it.

I would feel like I'm on an episode of the Amazing Race.

+1 Why are you guys talking about security lines?

I think it is totally fine. We've had this type of connection through ORD about 5 times over the past 2 years. No issues. Usually, the gates about about 5 minutes apart, sometimes 30 sec apart, sometimes 10-15 min apart. It is still no problem to board the second flight. With that said, I HATE long connections where I am just sitting at the gate for an hour. I much prefer walking up to my next gate as they are starting the boarding process.

Chicago has so many flight going out, they assume you'll just catch the next flight. No problem. Done all the time. I think that mindset is important. And to DCA, there will be many other flights.

I get the choice of flying thru ORD or DTW. Detroit will wait for you. Almost seems that way. I don't miss connections. I do in ORD.
